tumble.tools
Intelligent analytics and question generation for KS2 SATs mathematics
What We Do
tumble.tools is an interactive analytics platform built around years of real KS2 SATs mathematics data. We help teachers, tutors, and curriculum leads understand exactly what gets tested, how difficult each topic is, and where the gaps in their students' learning might be.
SATs Analytics Dashboard
Explore every question from years of KS2 SATs papers. Filter by year, difficulty, and content domain. See facility ratings, scatter plots, and curriculum coverage heatmaps that reveal patterns in how maths is examined.
Arithmetic Generator
Generate unlimited, randomised arithmetic practice papers that mirror the real KS2 Arithmetic Paper. Choose from 22 question types across long multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percentages, and more — with SATs-style formatting and printable output.
Reasoning Engine
Our 3-layer reasoning question generator separates mathematical logic from real-world context. A single set of numbers can be "dressed" in different narratives — money, grouping, measurement — while the Semantic Bridge ensures questions always make sense (no 0.33 of a person!).
Deterministic Seeds
Every generated question carries a seed. Re-enter the seed, get the exact same question. This makes it possible to share, reproduce, and track specific problems over time — ideal for intervention records and targeted revision.
How It Works
Under the hood, tumble.tools is powered by a structured approach to question generation:
Mathematical Kernel
Pure number theory. The kernel generates mathematically valid relationships — division with remainders, fractions of amounts, percentages — and tags each output with properties like decimal_friendly,has_remainder, or money_safe.
Semantic Bridge
The bridge reads the kernel's tags and decides which real-world contexts are valid. A recurring decimal? Block money. A fractional result? Block discrete people. This prevents nonsensical questions automatically.
Context Skin
Finally, the valid numbers are "dressed" in a narrative template — eggs in boxes, children in teams, ribbon cutting, discount calculations. The same mathematical structure produces completely different word problems.
Our Vision
tumble.tools started as a question: "What if we could understand exactly how KS2 maths is tested, and then generate questions that mirror those patterns?"
We believe the future of maths education lies in intelligent, data-driven practice. Not more worksheets — better worksheets. Questions that adapt to gaps, match the real exam's distribution, and give teachers insight into what their students actually need.
Targeted Intervention
Generate practice sets that focus precisely on the content domains where a student or class is weakest, weighted by how likely each topic is to appear.
Predictive Analysis
Use historical facility data to predict which question types are likely to appear on upcoming papers and their expected difficulty.
Full Paper Generation
Generate complete, balanced practice papers that match the structure, difficulty curve, and topic distribution of real SATs papers.
Open Platform
Build a community of teachers and tutors who share seeds, templates, and insights — making high-quality maths preparation accessible to everyone.
